2025 Meeting of the Council of the General Church Clergy

The General Church of the New Jerusalem Council of the Clergy is having its plenary meetings in Bryn Athyn, PA from June 24th to June 27th, 2025. We look forward to seeing our clergy members for these important meetings.

Housing for those travelling to the meeting is available from June 21st through June 29th.

The Council of the Clergy meets to discuss doctrinal issues, provide counsel to the Executive Bishop, discuss the uses of the Church, hear and discuss reports from the leaders of various uses, and provide mutual counsel on pastoral and other matters.

The GC Council of the Clergy also has the governmental role of nominating an Assistant or Executive Bishop.

It considers for membership every priest who has been recognized by the Executive Bishop as a priest of the General Church.

The participation and contribution of the GC clergy is very useful to the council in particular, and to our church in general. Therefore, the GC council of the clergy members are all asked to make every reasonable effort to attend clergy meetings.

“A priest who teaches truths from the Word and thereby leads to the good of life, and so to heaven, because he consults the welfare of the souls of those who belong to his Church, is pre-eminently in the exercise of charity.” (True Christian Religion 422)

Daily Inspiration

"Even if a person could know from heaven all the things that the angels know, or know all things that are in the Word and that are in all the doctrines of the church, and even everything that wise people have written and councils decreed, and yet their will be evil, they would after death be seen as one who knows nothing, because they do not desire what they know."
